Emilia wears a different psychedelic, kooky outfit daily. Before film class 2nd hour in the north attic, Emilia turns to a radio station playing music and dances.

Imagine coming up the stairs to class, hearing some random music and seeing Emilia as a pink fuzzy swirl - or wearing a bright green flowered smock - or some new-found, unusual, always colorful outfit - dancing away at 8:50 AM. She always stops in time for class to begin, too.

David Sims’ Self-Nomination:

I took an algebra assignment and turned it into a satirical information booklet about functions, as if the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Functions had made a field guide for North American math students.

For Acc. Algebra II/Trig last year, we had to make a "Function Toolkit," a packet of papers describing the characteristics of 10 or so basic families of math functions. It was due at the same time as other projects, and I knew I would hate to do it if I didn’t have some fun. I sat down one night and made it a public service booklet against cruelty to functions (using exponentials as shoe-horns, for example.

The creative juices flowing from me were about the only bright spot about Algebra II last year, a relatively dry course.

Yong-Bee is a hugger. He hugs teachers, staff, and other students.

Yong-Bee opens his arms to give a hug usually in the hallway - often when you could use it and least expect it. His hugs are warm - as hugs usually are - but also formal and not intrusive.

Yong-Bee's hugging is definitely "out of the box." It's weird at first but now I appreciate it. He’s truly reaching out, expressing affection, making peace and not war. His classmates may accuse him of "brown-nosing" but he continues. How many senior boys in any school share kindness this openly? C’mon, class of ’72, Yong-Bee is Wylde Q!
